GENERAL INFORMATION Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great in year 331 BC, this city continued to be the capital of ancient Egypt more than 1,000 years until the advent of the Islamic conquest of Egypt.
Alexandria is located at the west end of the River Nile between the Mediterranean Sea and Lake Mariot. It is considered the second most important city of Egypt and its main port, it also handles more than three quarters of the country's foreign trade. There are two ports in Alexandria, the eastern and the western ports. The Eastern Port is between the imaginary line which links the two water breaks (eastern and western) that are passing Through the middle water break. The Western Port starts with the imaginary line which is connected between the two outer water breaks beside El-Mahmodia canal.  This port is divided into two parts separated by coal berths and an inner water break, the first part is called the inner port and the second is called the outer port. Both ports are separated by an Island (T-shape).The eastern port is used for fishing while the western one is what we call Alexandria port. . .
